We should like to notify our customers of the fact that their interest cost could increase if their loan period is extended and the agreements/loans continue to be subject to exchange rate risk where the principal changes in relation to the exchange rate. Instalments on foreign loans which have been frozen or extended will change in relation to the exchange rate. Instalments on rescheduled loans will change according to the rescheduling index while the principal will continue to change in relation to the exchange rate.
The following conditions apply to the application:
- The options will be available for loans/agreements entered into or taken over before 1st October 2008. The debt service burden for loans/agreements during the period 1st June 2008 to 1st October 2008 will be similar to their first due date.
- The loan/agreement shall be performing.
- 3. Applications shall be received before the 10th of each month for next month’s due date.
The change will be free to our customers.
The process of the application is as follows:
- After you have filled in and sent the application to us on the web, you will receive a reply by e-mail as soon as possible.
- You will be notified by e-mail whether your application has been approved or rejected.
- You should then print the document and sign it along with a guarantor/s, if applicable, and two witnesses are required to witness the signature of the applicant and the guarantor/s.

- The signed document shall then be sent to Avant, Sudurlandsbraut 12, Reykjavík. We can only begin to process the application once we have received the original document.
While we regret that it is not sufficient to scan the document and send it to us by fax or e-mail, Avant’s staff will do their best to expedite the processing of applications when we have received the signed original.
We will send confirmation by e-mail to those applicants who have sent the original by mail, when it has been received, providing they have stated their e-mail address on the document in question (see the section below the signatures of witnesses).
